Acclaim Entertainment's Crazy Taxi for PlayStation®2 Computer Entertainment System hits full retail distribution

GLEN COVE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 17, 2001--In anticipation of the European launch of its highly anticipated new PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system game, Crazy Taxi, Acclaim Entertainment, Inc. (NASDAQ: AKLM - news) today announced that it will ship 400,000 units worldwide. Already in full retail distributionthroughout North America, Acclaim's Crazy Taxi is shipping throughout Europe later this month.

"We are thrilled by the tremendous response from retail towards Crazy Taxi and we are currently working with them to create customized programs to maximize sell-through," said Evan Stein, vice president of Brand/Marketing. "Crazy Taxi underscores our commitment in providing highly engaging content for the next-generation gaming systems."

Crazy Taxi is a mad race against the clock -- and traffic. As any of four fearless cabbies, players are driven by a single goal: to rack up the mega-bucks in fares and tips before their shift ends. Drivers pick up passengers and take them to their destination by any way possible. It's a comic cab opera of collisions and decisions where courtesy takes a back seat to coin.
