Balance your forces:
Tanks are great for taking out enemy vehicles and buildings, but not so great against infantry. Use hummers, buggies, or snipers to protect them from infantry. Even if you don't kill the enemy infantry they will still have to worry about you and your team's tanks will stay alive a bit longer and stand a greater chance of destroying an enemy building or two.
Aim for the head!
As simple as that sounds , most people don't aim for the head in an Infantry Firefight simply because the head presents a smaller target to hit. In reality with most rapid fire weapons headshots aren't as hard to get as one might think. Their high rate of fire guarantee's that some projectiles hit the mark, and those that do hit the mark do a lot of damage. With regular snipers, a headshot once again kills any infantry unit, even higher level characters that usually require 2 or more shots to kill.
The Zig-Zag fakeout:
A tip I tend to use a lot on the field of honor is faking directions. What I mean by this, is if combating or fleeing from an enemy vehicle, I tend to start to veer off to the right, and hop back to the left, which prevents me from being a hood ornament. Using this strategy when on defense with Mobius, I managed to take out two Stealth Tanks and their drivers, who were both hell-bent on killing me, as I ruined so many of their plans. Of course, those nasty little tanks move quite quickly, and only dodging them by faking which way I was going to go saved my life.
Protect the Base!
One of the more important, and sometime forgotten about, parts of Renegade is base defense. You can't be everywhere at once so you need some way to protect your buildings from those nasty C4 rushes. The best way to protect against it is effective use of proximity mines.
Placing the proxy mines inside buildings or blocking off important infantry access points to your base works best. Place about 5 mines on the MCT's throughout your base and you will be surprised at how effective it is at stopping engineers from placing their C4. Another useful location is just inside the doors of a building as they won't see anything until its too late. Look for chokepoints where infantry are bound to pass by and block it off, just remember to check the spot regularly to see if they are still around. Each side is limited to 30 mines at a time so be sure to let everyone know who is laying the mines beforehand. If you use them right it will be next to impossible for small infantry rushes to do much damage.
